The new Lifeguard Operations, Training and Community facility is taking shape and we are getting fantastic feedback from our members and the local community.
Since the precast concrete panels were delivered, Woodview’s progress, along with the support of a number of local Piha builders on the base build of the facility, has been swift and is now at nearly 75%, with completion expected by 28 March 2024.
Our fundraising has now covered the base build cost, thus clearing the $640,000 in underwrites generously provided by a group of Club and local community members and we thank them for providing that support to enable the project to get underway and having faith in Club to be able to raise that shortfall.
We would also like to acknowledge the generous direct financial support, received from a number of the Underwriters. To get the project underway, we not only required those underwrites but we also needed to remove $800,000 of fit out and finishing items from the build scope such as, Cabinetry, Linings, Bunks and mattresses, Painting, Decking, Fencing, Appliances, furnishings etc.
Thanks to the Trillian Trust, Foundation North and Lotteries New Zealand, we are now in a position to bring nearly half of those items back in and are looking to raise the final $400,000, to bring them all in so that the building can fulfil all its intended uses at opening.
The club is still seeking grants, donations and sponsorships to meet that $400,000 shortfall and are offering various levels of naming rights for donations from $1000 up to $200,000.
